NAS and backup solutions
Keep your photos, files and business data safe, with backups that run on their own and are tested so you know they work.
Most people find out about their backup when they need it
A single copy of your files on a laptop, a phone or one external drive can be lost to a hardware failure, theft, an accidental delete or ransomware in a moment.
Plenty of backups have quietly stopped working months before anyone needs them. The goal is a backup you never have to think about, and can rely on when you do.
What's included
-
NAS deployment and configuration
A network storage device for shared files, photos and media, set up with sensible folders, user access and protection against a drive failing.
-
Automated backups
Computers backed up on a schedule, without anyone needing to remember to plug in a drive.
-
Off-site copies
A copy kept away from the building, so a fire, flood or break-in doesn't take everything with it.
-
Microsoft 365 backup
For businesses, a separate backup of email, OneDrive and SharePoint where appropriate. Microsoft keeps the service running, but recovering deleted or encrypted data is largely up to you.
-
Monitoring and verification
Alerts when a backup fails, and regular checks that jobs are completing.
-
Recovery testing and planning
Test restores, and a short written plan for what to do if something goes wrong.
The approach
I follow the 3-2-1 rule: three copies of important data, on two different types of storage, with one copy off-site.
Snapshots and version history protect against ransomware and accidental deletion. RAID protects against a single drive failing, but it isn't a backup on its own, so it's always paired with a separate copy.
