Wi-Fi and networking for homes and small offices

Reliable, secure connections across the whole house or office, designed as a whole rather than added to one box at a time.

Slow Wi-Fi usually isn't the internet

Most Wi-Fi complaints come from where the equipment sits and how it's configured, not from the speed of the NBN plan. Dead spots, video calls that drop and devices that won't stay connected nearly always have a cause that can be found and fixed.

Adding another extender often makes things worse. Working out what's really happening first saves money and frustration.

What's included

  • Coverage assessment

Find the weak spots and what's causing them before anything is bought.

  • Mesh and access point set-up

Mesh systems or wired access points placed and configured for even coverage, including home offices, granny flats and sheds.

  • NBN, modem and router configuration

Your connection set up correctly, with the provider's equipment working alongside your own where needed.

  • Network security

Strong Wi-Fi passwords, current firmware, locked-down admin access and a separate guest network.

  • Separate networks for devices

Smart devices, cameras and guests kept apart from the computers that hold your important files.

  • Small office networks

Switches, Wi-Fi, printers and shared storage for a small office, set up so they're easy to manage and support.

The technical side, briefly

Where it helps, I use wired backhaul between access points, separate networks (SSIDs or VLANs) for guests and smart devices, and sensible channel and band settings for your space.

For small offices the same principles apply, with more attention to firewall rules and documentation, so whoever looks after the network next can see how it's built.
